Colour: There's More Than Meets The Eye
It's great to see so many business owners educating themselves on the importance and benefits of creating a solid brand, but many are still getting too hung up on certain visuals like colour palette. One of the most common phrases I hear is, "I would like to use the colour blue/red/yellow because it represents trust/strength/hunger" etc. While these statements are true, using a particular colour is not the single ingredient for brand success. In most cases I avoid using this method of thinking for the brands that I create for two reasons:
1. If you have thought of it then so have many other business owners in your industry. Be different and stand out. Colour is a great way to do this! Rather than focus on the deep meaning of a colour though focus on what colour palette will distinctly seperate you from the competitors.
2. Following a colour chart of meanings can lead you away from expressing your brand's personality. Instead, use colours that will showcase the experience you have to offer.
At the end of the day, it all comes back to having a Brand Strategy in place to know how to develop your brand and execute it successfully. You can read my 3 Reasons Why You Need A Brand Strategy Before You Brand here.
