Should You Advertise Your Pricing Online?
I recently had a conversation with a new client about whether or not they should display/advertise their pricing online and on printed marketing material. It may seem like a simple yes or no answer, but it actually runs deeper into the brand's strategy and personality than you may think.
I began by asking my client the simple question;
Who is your target market?
Her answer was "the everyday guy and girl".
And what does the everyday guy and girl base their buying decisions on?
Answer: Price and value for money.
So where is your business positioned in the market based on your price point? Are you expensive, competitive or cheap?
Answer: Competitive.
By asking a few questions I was able to look at her target market and their behaviour patterns and make a decision in regards to price point. Being competitive in price allowed us to use this as a marketing tool, showcasing her service as value for money and ultimately giving her market exactly what they are looking for.
In this case, the final answer was YES, display your prices and use this as a competitive edge. Ask yourself, what is the number one buying decision of your ideal client? Is it price point? Reliability? Skill set? Unique offering? Once you know this you will know how to market and advertise your product or service.
